About IQ Check

IQ Check is a free cognitive-testing site built around one observation: the online IQ test market is broken in two opposite ways, and both are fixable.

Half the market makes you complete a twenty-minute test and then charges you to see your own result — frequently through a "$0.99 trial" that quietly becomes a $30-per-month subscription. The other half shows you a score instantly, but an inflated one, because a 155 gets shared on social media and an honest 112 does not.

We think a test you can trust looks like this:

  • Full results, free, always. Score, percentile and classification the moment you finish. No email, no account, no payment step — ever.
  • Honest ceilings. Our test caps at 145 because that is where a 35-item instrument stops measuring. If a site offers you a 160, it is selling flattery.
  • Published methodology. The scoring model, its assumptions and its error margins are documented openly — including the parts that are provisional.
  • Results stay on your device. Scoring runs in your browser; we run no account system and store no individual results.
  • Honest content. Our score guides and reference pages say what the research says — including the caveats, the contested data, and the things a test score cannot tell you.

The site is supported by advertising on reference pages, which is what lets the test itself stay free with no strings. If you spot an error anywhere on the site — factual, statistical or otherwise — we genuinely want to know: [email protected].
